Information for Voters

Edmonton City Council and School District Trustee elections will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013. If you are 18 years old and a Canadian citizen who has lived in Alberta for at least six months before election day (May 21st), you can vote in this municipal election. You must vote in the ward in which you live.

You can use this Where to Vote gadget to find out where your polling station is.


You will have to produce identification that establish your name and current address. Examples of authorized identification include:

  • Alberta Driver’s Licence
  • Alberta Identification Card
  • Bank/credit card statement or personal cheque
  • Income/property tax assessment notice
  • Insurance policy or coverage card
  • Statement of government benefits (e.g. employment insurance, old-age security or social assistance)

Request for Special Ballot

If you are unable to vote at an advance vote or at the voting station on election day because of a physical incapacity or because you’ll be away from Edmonton on election day, you can request a special ballot.

Advance Polls

Advance Polls will be held between October 8-12 and 15-19, 2013 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 10am and 5pm; and on Thursdays from 10am to 8pm. Ward 7 voters can cast their ballots during these hours at the Edmonton Soccer Association East Soccer Centre, 12720 Victoria Trail. Use the main (south) entrance, turn left towards pro shop. Public transit will get you within walking distance of the soccer centre. If you want to vote in advance and need transportation, please call the campaign office at 780-851-1994. We’ll get you there.

Candidate Forums

The city-sponsored Ward 7 city councilor candidate forum will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 7 to 9 pm at St. Bernadette Elementary School, 11917 – 40 Street. All city-sponsored candidate forums will be webcast live. Click here to see a full list of all the city-sponsored forums.

Community leagues and other organizations will sponsor their own campaign-related events. We’ll update the Ward 7 events right here as we become aware of them, so check back often.

  • Highlands Community League Candidates Forum, Saturday, September 21st 1:00 p.m.  Highlands Park, 112th Ave and 62nd Street.
  • Newton Community League Candidates Forum, Wednesday, October 16th 7:00 p.m. Newton Community League, 5520 – 121 Avenue.
